What model or models of WW2 Rolls Royce Merlin Engine is the Rover Meteor based on?

My question is, what model or models of the famous Merlin aviation engine is the Meteor tank engine based on. I realize the Meteor didn't have a 2 stage super charger, normal petrol/gasoline and used heavier materials than it's Merlin brother. As well as the model does anyone know what the engine HP was derated from, how much Horse power the higher octane petrol/gasoline and the 2 stage supercharger added individually as well as together. Your probably thinking what the hell is he talking about. Cheers John|||The Meteor engine was originally a de-rated Merlin III. If I remember correctly the engine was de-rated to around 600 HP from 1140HP of the Merlin as it did not have a supercharger and it was running on pool petrol.

The Merlin III ran on a single stage supercharger. Later development of the Merlin concentrated almost purely on the induction systems. it is almost a straight swap to take an early model Merlin, nail a two stage charger on it and you have a Merlin 60 series.

Later Merlins running 150 Octane Avgas and 2stage chargers ran at 1720HP.

I hope this answers the question

Ray.
