What is your opinion on VW owning Lamborghini, Buggati, and Rolls Royce?

Do you think it is ok and wouldnt that make VW a great car company? I think so.|||rolls royce is owned by bmw.

vw is a great car company, it is the 4th largest after gm, toyota and ford. but just because it is large, it doesnt always mean it is good. i would prefer buying a honda or toyota than a vw.|||I am very upset with them. I was going to buy a Lamborghini but now I changed my mind, I will be buying a Huyndai instead.|||Perhaps VW owning those companies will cause them to produce reliable cars? Nah!|||VW builds very good cars and perhaps the quality of Lamborghini, Bugatti and Rolls Royce "Bentley" under VW. When BMW bought Rover, Rover owned the Rolls Royce name so the actually plants that use to build Rolls Royce now builds the Bentley. Lamborghini makes more farm tractors than cars and the Lamboghini car line is a side product of its tractor and construction equipment main line.

What is interesting is that it looks like Porsche will be buying VW, and how this will effect VW.|||so what? Ford owned Jaguar and Aston Martin and that made no difference to the mainstream cars they built. If anything, a major manufacturer has a negative effect on the luxury or sports brand it buys by introducing parts and platform sharing. If I wanted an Aston martin or a lambo or Bentley, I would prefer it to have bespoke switchgear and engines as opposed to parts from the part bin. Smaller and more exotic manufacturers tend to build cars with a bit more passion than the majors. Fiat owns Ferrari and Alfa, Proton owns Lotus and the list goes on. Majors do it to add exclusivity to their brands but generally they tend to let go of them after a while.
